MYDAY
FROMDAYTODAY
EverydayMyDay
Thursday 9/4/20
Physical Activity before very light breakfast.
Started as usual with 20 minutes soft exercise
assisted by a tv program that started with the help of the sports department in
the European Commission many years ago. Nederland in Beweging. One of the
presenters is a formerly well-known female athlete that I knew in my time I was
running the 1500 M. Steeple: Olga Commandeur .
Established my daily list on “what to do today”
(always too long, too many points.…so I keep things for tomorrow ….and after...)
Round with Fam/Friends/Acquaintances (Phone,
Internet…….)
Talked to my sister whose husband is in a home
and not allowed to receive visitors: for her and people in a similar situation
these days are very very difficult.
Friends in different places in the World are
suffering and it is great to have an exchange on what is happening in each
other’s direct environment. It certainly shows me how lucky we are in our
personal situation.
And how great the internet is if one uses it
appropriately: we need much more legislation on the use and many more
international control mechanisms: a permanent monitoring system. Not easy but
absolutely necessary these days.
Some shopping for our light meal and
daily needs. In general people follow the advice on distancing in shops.
Longlife Learning: Webinars and other talks,
meetings
I followed two webinars online. One regarding
Artificial Intelligence and the Young Kids. The other one on Sustainability
during and after the Crisis.
I met two people out in the street and one in
our apartment complex and talked about various kind of things. None of them was
complaining about their situation and also prepared to help others. Of course
at a more advanced age one has to be careful in contacts with other people but
distancing is a great tool ( in NL 1m50 is recommended….I make it two meters)
Creativity: Music, Singing, Cooking, Other Arts.
Looked for some great “old” music and listened
for 1 hour and a half ( The Hollies and
Creedence Clearwater Revival) this evening I will listen to Händel…before going
to sleep).
Relaxation Time.
Relaxed on our terrace with some Tea and discussed
some family business.
Things to do “ad hoc”: Admin and Do It Yourself ( DIY)
Repaired a tap, completed some administrative
work. Put more order in our basement cellars.
Social Media
Went through my various social media networks
(Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram………) in a limited way. I do not do Twitter and
similar contentless social media.
Think Tanks
Had two meetings with Think Tanks of which I am
a member and discussed the actual situation following Covid-19: one concerning
adaption of our modes of transport (trains instead of planes for instance) and
another about the remedy in the financial markets)
Policies/ Europa
Read two Articles in depth: one Corona related
in the Spectator of 28 March written by Dr Lee explaining in simple words what
he thinks of what is going on. Dr. Lee is a experienced pathologist.
The other concerning the meeting of finance
ministers in the EU context. I sincerely missed the European spirit in doing
things together. We need more people with genuine civil courage at European
level.
WORK and Business
I also had to finalize some “work” for my small
company in order to meet deadlines and
stimulate the contact amongst the key actors in one major project in
TOGO where we work with China on the setting up of an innovative medical hub in
ECOWAS context.
Spoke to two young start-ups suffering from the
Covid-19 consequences merely on IP
matters.
